Frankfurt’s classic grand hotel now sports a new “face” to marks its 130-year anniversary. Its landmark façade has been sandblasted and burnished to a new glow, new studio suites have been added, and the critically acclaimed Restaurant Francais completely remodelled to showcase Chef Patrick Bittner’s exceptional cuisine. The terraces have also been beautified to host memorable outdoor events. Among the highlights of the renovation: Beautifully appointed with antiques, the hotel’s expansive Skyline Suite, at 80 square meters, boasts an open fireplace and a spacious bathroom with Jacuzzi, steam sauna and a flat-screen TV above the bathtub. Several charming new Studio Suites are located in the center of the hotel, with balconies overlooking the city. Wall colors range from warm reds to beige to cooler blues and greens. All of these suites have separate living and bedroom areas, a large bathroom, a guest toilet, and walk-in closets, as well as their own balconies. The hotel’s gourmet restaurant, which has earned 17 Gault Millaut points for its acclaimed chef, Patrick Bittner, has been completely refurbished. The newly unveiled Restaurant Francais enjoys a new entrance from the Author’s Bar and two dining rooms offering entirely distinct dining environments. Cozy corners are characterized by French tapestries and delicate trompe l’oeil paintings on the walls and parquet flooring made of 100-year-old oak from Versailles. An antique glass divider evokes the flair of a grand salon, with daylight streaming in from the winter garden. The hotel’s Terraces, too, have been redesigned as spectacular venues for summer events under the open skies. They include the Mediterranean-themed Francais Terrace and Oscar’s Terrace, which together can accommodate groups of up to 200. In addition, a men’s store at the Frankfurter Hof has been converted into a charming salon hosting up to 60 people, and the former Havanna Lounge is now a 1st Floor Club, with several cozy rooms complete with fireplaces and a small conference room. |
