The famous Oktoberfest is a sixteen-day festival and an important part of Bavarian culture. The first "Oktoberfest" took place in 1810. For the commemoration of their marriage, Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen organized a great horse race. Since then it steadily grew. Today it is the largest people's fair in the world with more than six million visitors and a size of 42 hectare.
